Ronaldo was rumoured to be frustrated with life in the Spanish capital in the summer in the wake of his tax fraud case.
At the time, he was said to angered that his club failed to show more support for his off-field troubles.
Florentino Perez swiftly came out in defence of Real’s superstar with Ronaldo seemingly happy at the gesture.
But rumours surrounding his future at the Bernabeu continue to circulate and he could still leave the reigning La Liga and Champions League winners.
That’s according to journalist Eduardo Aguirre, who claimed on El Chiringuto TV that Ronaldo is edging closer to a sensational exit from the Bernabeu.
He said: “Today, Cristiano still wants to leave Real Madrid.
“He is closer than ever to go.”
Ronaldo picked up his fifth Ballon d’Or last week, drawing him level with Lionel Messi.
But the two have enjoyed very different campaigns so far.
Messi has helped Barcelona open up a five-point lead at the top of La Liga with 14 goals in just 15 games.
In contrast, Ronaldo has scored just four times in the league, although he has found the net on nine occasions in six Champions League matches.
